Action
An Argireline-Leuphasyl peptide cocktail that reduces expression wrinkles, inhibiting the contraction and tension of muscles. The action of Argireline does not intend to ‘immobilise-paralyse’ the muscles, as conventional ‘botox’ treatments do, but instead it ‘relaxes’ the muscles. Argireline destabilises the SNARE protein, whose action is vital for the release of neurotransmitters conveying the signal for muscle contraction. As a result of this mechanism of action, muscle contractions are limited and expression lines and wrinkles are softened. Leuphasyl is a pentapeptide that mimics the action of enkephalin. It binds to the enkephalin receptor and closes calcium channels maintaining the neurons in ‘resting phase’, reducing muscle contractions and preventing the formation of lines and wrinkles. It has been demonstrated in vitro that the synergistic action of the Argireline-Leuphasyl peptides presents superior efficiency compared to their individual use.
